What experience does Tropic Air Rescue’s team bring to air medical evacuations?

How does Tropic Air Rescue coordinate with medical centers in Florida?

Tropic Air Rescue’s Medical Director determines the most appropriate healthcare facility, and the helicopter is directed to the designated heliport, ensuring a streamlined and coordinated response.

Does Tropic Air Rescue involve any out-of-pocket costs for its members?

No, Tropic Air Rescue operates on a no out-of-pocket cost model. After providing air medical services, the company files a claim with your health insurance for reimbursement, eliminating the need for additional payments beyond what is covered by health insurance.

Identity and enrollment information are collected up-front, ensuring that in the event of an emergency trauma event, Tropic Air Rescue has the necessary information for a rapid and efficient rescue response.

What sets Tropic Air Rescue apart in terms of access?

Tropic Air Rescue provides precise access to any location, day or night, utilizing our helicopters that can land at remote areas inaccessible by fixed-wing aircraft.  Membership in Tropic Air Rescue assures access to our aircraft. When needed, we respond immediately to a member’s request, 24/7. Since every member provides their insurance information, we do not delay our response in order to gather insurance or payment information.

When you need medevac services the other providers will ask for full payment up-front before they even respond.   You will be required to pay the full cost of the service out of pocket.  This can be quite significant.

Don’t be fooled by some membership programs that are merely clearing houses and own no aircraft.  They have nothing but a computer and a telephone.  When you need help they begin a search for available providers with available aircraft.  They shop for the best deal for them since they save money.  Time, your time is not a consideration.  Once they find a service and they bargain the price and the flight is assigned.  The medevac provider may not be available for a day or two but that’s not an issue for them, but it is for you as you wait for help.  Expect on average 8 to 36 hours of delayed response!  When you are seriously injured or require immediate medical intervention(stroke, cardiac issue) this can be the difference between life and death or can seriously affect your recovery from injury.

When you become a TROPIC AIR RESCUE member, our response is near immediate.  We DO NOT wait for payment before response.  We DO NOT require payment up-front from a member and we only respond to members calls for help.  When the medevac is completed we will seek reimbursement from your insurance provider for the cost of the trip.  This may or may not involve your input.  We will seek this reimbursement and will not require any out of pocket expenses by the member.

Our Helicopters and crews are ready and available 24/7 to respond anywhere in the Bahamas, while airplanes are limited to daytime operations  and can only respond to the 61 islands with runways.  The helicopters can land at any one of the 700 Bahamian islands to pickup injured persons!
